Thanks for your comment. I’ve seen the clip before, and I think it makes some fair points about “security theater”. However there are several more security measures put into place which are very effective — for example matching any checked bags with the passenger on board. If this procedure was in practice in 1988, the suitcase bomb used in the terror attack on Flight 103 would have never been possible. And as the video you linked to points out, most terror attacks are thwarted by intelligence in advance of airport screening — and indeed the increased scrutiny of passenger watch lists and acting on intelligence would have been effective in preventing the attacks on Flight 103 as well.
