I don’t necessarily disagree this is part of the problem. However I see a large, missing piece of privilege in your argument- wealth.
Poor people are screwed in this country weather black or white. Who has better odds of success in the US- a black child born to upper middle class parents? Or a white child born to poor parents?
We all know it’s the black child. They will have good school systems, safe neighborhoods to play in, likewise privileged friends and romantic partners, the opportunity for graduate education and good jobs. And the cycle will perpetuate
The poor white child will see struggle, probably violence, perhaps poor nutrition and abuse at home. They will have difficulty studying in a violent school with poor teachers. There will be no economic opportunities and no expectation of college.
Economic issues drive significant privilege in the US. Black people face the double whammy of institutional racism and the fact that most of the blacks in America started out at literally zero economically.
Don’t underestimate how profound a privilege it is to be born to parents with a solid economic foundation.
