“The decision to front-end education with pre-primary is based on a wide swath of research, including Nova Scotia-made evidence from the eight Early Years Centres, which tested the program in each school district.”
Why hasn’t the DOE released any studies, reports, etc. to support this program. Why hasn’t the evaluation of the EYC been completed? Why hasn’t the evaluation of the EYCs met since August 2016? Why wasn’t a pre-primary program a recommendation that came out of DOE’s own review of the regulated child care completed less than one year ago? If this program is expected to have the results the Government is claiming, why won’t they back it up with research? To date, there is absolutely no basis or rationale provide for this except constantly quoting Margaret McCain, a well meaning, wealthy, but not necessarily qualified, philanthropist. As well, as she funds the EYC evaluations , shouldn’t we be relying on a third party?
