But we can’t blame writers (or any content creators) for doing what works. In your own headline, you used a tactic (even if it was tongue-in-cheek) to get people to hear a message that is also worth hearing:

I am guilty as charged with respect to the headline tactic here, and have mixed feelings about it, but I agree that using a writerly tactic to get more readers doesn’t necessarily damn the overall endeavor.

That said, my mixed feelings about the title (and respect for Jon Westenberg) are the reason I haven’t submitted this story to a publication on Medium, even though I think the message in the story itself is a good one.
