I’m happiest when I’m writing for (or speaking to) a primary audience of 1 to maybe a dozen or so. I mean, sure, part of me wants to be FAMOUS, but true satisfaction is from more intimate connections. What would stats for that look like? I would have to figure that out, but they would be valuable if they gave me insight into whether people were consistently reading my responses (even if they don’t respond to or recommend them, say), maybe something qualitative about the types of responses that did and did not get read, recommended, and responded to, the stories they were in response to, and the readers who were (or were not) reading them.

I would use this to get a better sense of which activities I was participating in were of interest to those around me, so I could focus my efforts.

(This is all very rough, and probably low on the priority list for Medium, but it’s interesting to me!)
