I see similarity between dysfunctional family roles and political groups, wherein a nation is the family and everyone works to hide the ugliness. You’ve got Victim Democrats; Enabling Republicans; NeoCon Heros; Scapegoat Libertarians/Tea Party; and Mascot Socialists. The ones who decide to opt out or gravitate towards anarchism are the ‘Lost Children’.

Great article, Joel! As someone who once argued very hard to convince my brother of the benefits of self-knowledge, I learned first hand that people are like horses: you can lead them to water but you can’t make them drink. You’ve helped me think more deeply about sibling relationships.
