I like the idea of older, dedicated tech helping to separate our always-connected work and social lives from our winding-down time, especially in service of our mental health. Anxiety and depression can be greatly exacerbated by the constant pull of a smartphone.

That said, it’s a tough proposition in this age. Cutting yourself off from the online world puts you at a disadvantage; many employers take for granted that emails will be answered regardless of time or day. The connected generation considers a delay of mere hours a sign of dismissal or discontent, making relationships more difficult to maintain if you want to stay off the grid.
