The Case For The Third Party

17 republicans and 3 democrats started out about a year ago to run for their respective parties presidential nomination. This group of individuals consisted of former governors, congressman, doctors, and businessman. I thought that surely out of all of them one of the parties would end up with a candidate I could get behind.

Well here I sit in early August with little faith in the two-party system. Every day I hear “a vote for a third party is a wasted vote” “a vote for the third party is a vote for/against trump/clinton”.

You have probably heard by now about the libertarian candidate, Gary Johnson. He is a bit zany and wears Nike shoes with his suit during interviews. I will cut right to it. Gary Johnson is for civil liberty, tax reform, term limits and cutting government spending.

More and more I am seeing friends on social media sharing support for Gary Johnson. What I have found most compelling is that they share their support because they truly believe there is a candidate out there that can go to Washington and make our nation a better place. There is no hatred being thrown at the democratic or republican candidate, no bashing of others political affiliations.

Gary Johnson will most likely get invited to some debates this fall, so I encourage you to do some research and listen to what he has to say. Ultimately on November 8th if you go and vote for the candidate that you firmly believe has your best interest at hand, you should feel proud of that.
