Day 10: Free Fallin’

For my last full day in the great not-so-white north, my local compadre took me to see the greatest sight in southern Ontario, Niagra Falls.
Now, we’ll give a little leeway here, but I’m pretty sure the falls are pretty much in America, but they look better from this side, so that’s good enough for me!
We took the drive out from Guelph along a long stretch of highway often used by optimistic Buffalo Bills fans in Ontario to get to games and tragically upset Buffalo Bills fans in Ontario coming home from games to head towards the border and a large body of falling water that lay on the divide.
Being a nice, sunny Sunday meant that tourist season was in full-swing. We could barely walk through Clifton Hill it was so crowded with people going to enjoy the sights down on the river.
Now, the area around Niagra falls isn’t the most appealing place to set up your life, but the falls themselves were absolutely breathtaking! After shouldering your way past multiple wax museums and arcades set up to drain tourists of any hard-earned they still had on them after paying parking, we reached the river front and were immediately greeted by a wall of spray.
Obviously when that much water falls, there’s going to be a pretty sizable splash-zone, so I guess it was pretty predictable, but I’m glad I brought a change of shirt for afterwards.
The falls were outstanding. I don’t reckon there’s any natural sight that comes close to this level of magnificence that I’ve seen just yet.
I certainly wasn’t the only one as every second person was stopped and taking a photograph of either themselves or their mates in front of the waterfalls, so i joined in and got a couple of happy snaps.
Following this, we took the drive back home and I crashed for a long while. The night out on Day 9 had taken its toll on this not-so-young-anymore Aussie…
After a quick recharge, we grabbed some pizza, chucked on some Netflix and relaxed to end Day 10.
Tomorrow it’s a day of gathering my stuff together before jumping on a plane back across the border in the evening, so I’d better get packing!
