Hello stationery lovers! I have a new review today for the color lovers. This one is the Classmate sketch pens, 12 shades pack from ITC Ltd. Let’s jump into the review straightaway!

Name:

Classmate color crew sketch pens — 12 shades (Classmate is the brand name)

Company:

ITC Limited

Price:

₹35.00 for a pack of 12 sketch pens.

Availability:

Classmate is a well known brand and hence, the sketch pens are available in all the stationery and retail stores all over India. They are also available online on major e-commerce websites as well as other exclusive stationery shopping websites.

Packaging:

The Classmate sketch pens come in a plastic packet, with only a single tape seal at the back side. Once opened the seal becomes practically useless, which I am not happy about. The package size is approximately 14 cm x 13 cm. There is a lime green card which spans the entire packet horizontally and contains the product information, including the safety details. Overall the packaging is very cheap and can be discarded once opened. It would be better to tie the sketch pens with a simple rubber band.

Contents:

The package contains sketch pens in 12 assorted colors. The pens have a matching cap (as opposed to a white or yellow cap which some brands have) which is good since it gives a marker like feel to the individual pens. Each sketch pen is ~14 cm in length and ~1 cm in diameter. The colors provided are — black, brown, yellow, orange, red, bright pink, purple, indigo, sky blue, lime green, emerald green and fluorescent yellow. The color names are not provided anywhere on the packaging or the sketch pens. Honestly, I am not fond of a fluorescent color in a set of just 12 shades. I think it could have been replaced with a skin color, which would have been be more useful.

Product:

The pens are smooth and even shading as the package claims. The tip is pretty robust and sharp and works well for drawing lines as well as shading. The colors are bold and bright, including the yellow. Although for a light shade, the sky blue color is on the darker side. Otherwise even the fluorescent yellow is well pigmented.

The colors are really bold and bright

The pens look very elegant, and that is what attracted me to them in the first place, I did not fancy the structure of the tip, I think it could have been better. There is no smell, which is a plus point!

Final thoughts:

The positive aspect of the sketch pens is that they come from a well known brand, and hence have the necessary safety measures taken care of. The sketch pens are good for the price, and certainly better than the Camlin ones. I think these can be a second or a third option when it comes to buying sketch pens. I would suggest to take a look at other brands before buying these.
