RECAP: Debut Show of Kep1er

Kep1er has finally made its debut on Monday, January 3rd.

Kep1er is Mnet’s girl group project from the 2021 survival show, Girls Planet 999. The group has nine members; Yujin, Chaehyun, Xiaoting, Mashiro, Dayeon, Hikaru, Bahiyyih, Yeongeun, and Yeseo.

Kep1er was supposed to debut on December 14th, 2021, but it got pushed back since a staff member was tested positive for COVID-19. Around nine days after the positive case, WakeOne and Swing Entertainment also reported that Mashiro and Xiaoting were positive COVID-19.

Both Mashiro and Xiaoting had recovered on December 26th, 2021, and Kep1er continued its debut preparation.

Kep1er’s most awaited debut finally happened! The group had a prior debut media showcase on January 3rd at 5 p.m. (KST) before the global debut show at 8 p.m. (KST).

M2 YouTube channel globally broadcasted Kep1er’s debut show. Below is the recap of the show.

The show started with a one-minute introduction VCR and was followed by a performance of Shine (Kep1er’s Ver.). Shine is the last mission song for the Girls Planet 999 finale.

The next segment was ‘Profile Written by You‘, where the nine-member of Kep1er wrote each members’ profiles together.

After that, Kep1er announced the group’s fandom name, Kep1ian (read: keplian), chosen from the 1800 submissions of names by fans.

Kep1er’s second performance on the debut show was MVSK, a B-side track from the group’s debut album.

After the performance, there was a video of Kep1er playing a game in the practice room. The members then talked about the debut preparation and dorm life.

The group’s final performance was the debut album title track, WA DA DA. The debut show ended after the behind-the-scene clips were shown in the video.
