DAY[2]

Persistence gets you further than brilliance ~Robin Sharma

One never really realizes how fast time moves or rather how short a week is until they are fully and passionately immersed in something. With only two days to go, I find myself in a very challenging coding environment. Today has been a very intense day. I have had to reflect on why exactly I applied for the Andela fellowship and came out with a revelation that is not only true but will be my strong hold in my coding journey. I want to code, I want to build useful software applications and I want to be great at it regardless of how long it takes.

We started the day with games then went on to learn about data structures, code katas, modules, packages, loops and object oriented programming. I pulled a 12 hour boot camp sprint from 6.30 am to 6.30 pm and at the end of it I was much better than I was this morning. This made me realize that practice and persistence will get me to where I want to be. I was slow and I struggled a lot with creating code and making it run but I got better as the day progressed. Lunch hour was fun. I played pool and tested the boundaries of my social anxiety by mingling with some of the fellows and staff. I met very cool people.

Let’s see how Thursday goes.
