In Italy they say “impara l’arte e mettila da parte”, meaning something like “learn it and use it later” or worse “learn it and forget about it”. I believe that you got the point, because an incredible amount of people believe that learning is just receiving. I totally disagree and I, like you, am convinced that you have to take action in order to be able to learn something, but we have to always remember that studying is the basis of everything and we must not underestimate it.
