Now that the movie has been out for a full day — in Europe, at least — it’s time for a proper spoiler-filled review. If you’ve read my spoiler-free version (thank you!), you know the movie wasn’t perfect. So without further ado, let’s get to it.
The Team-Ups
The movie was at its strongest whenever several team members interacted. Sadly, we couldn’t get them all in one shot, but the ones that got paired up worked like a charm.
Thor & The Guardians of the Galaxy
How funny was it seeing Peter Quill feeling emasculated by Thor’s deep voice? Or how the God of Thunder cleverly spoke to Rocket’s ego, successfully dividing the team and going after what he wanted? Sneaky.
This grouping also brought one of the most emotional scenes in the movie. Seeing rebel-teen Groot putting aside his video game to save Thor’s life, showed just how everyone truly understood the high stakes.
