Meet the Maven Practitioners: Asiyah Roman
At Maven, the digital clinic for women, our goal is to give women everywhere instant and affordable access to exceptional healthcare practitioners. We’re more than a little proud of our team — after all, our practitioners are the ones who make Maven what it is, and save you from waiting in a doctor’s office, using a search engine to diagnose a mysterious symptom, or worrying that you can’t afford quality, personalized healthcare.
So each week, we’re going to make an introduction. Get to know the Maven Practitioners who inspire us, and learn more about why they do the most important work of all: taking care of you.

What inspires you as a nutritionist?
I think part of being a nutritionist is giving people a certain quality of life — after all, better food leads to better health. I think there’s real truth to the idea that food equals mood: by taking care of yourself and learning what your body needs nutritionally, you can be a stronger and happier woman. And because women are the ones usually putting the food on the table, being informed means that they will make healthy choices for the entire family.
Why are you excited to practice on Maven?
Maven allows us to reach women who cannot come to us due to busy schedules or complications. Women are the caregivers for most of the world — if we can reach them, we can give them knowledge to pass along.
What do you think telehealth offers the field of nutrition?
Working remotely with hard-to-reach clients is an important part of my practice. Telehealth offers clients the ease of being wherever they need to be in order to obtain the support and knowledge they need to keep going in life. It also offers a continuity of care that is otherwise difficult to maintain: for example, I have patients who I have been working with for years (some whom have an eating disorder). And when they move or go to college, I’m able to go with them!
Maven, the digital clinic for women, is a network of health practitioners who deliver video appointments via mobile device. Interested in becoming a Maven Practitioner? Request an invitation.
