PEACE MOVEMENT RESPONDS TO “VANCOUVER GROUP” MEETING ON NORTH KOREA
Press Conference & Public Lecture by Professor Michel Chossudovsky — “US Hands Off North Korea! North Korea and the Threat of Nuclear War”

TUESDAY, January 16
6pm — Press Conference
7pm — Public Lecture

Central Branch — Vancouver Public Library
350 W. Georgia Street
Downtown Vancouver, Canada

On January 16 U.S. Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson and the Foreign Minister of Canada, Chrystia Freeland, will be co-hosting a meeting of what they are calling the “Vancouver Group.” The stated aim of the meeting is to “advance the pressure campaign against North Korea.” Local peace activists are holding their own meeting on the same day in response.

Mobilization Against War & Occupation (MAWO) invites the media to a press conference with Professor Michel Chossudovsky, Professor Emeritus of Economics at the University of Ottawa, Founder and Director of the Centre for Research on Globalization (CRG) and Editor of Global Research. The press conference will be followed by a public lecture, which will discuss the roots and causes of the current tensions with North Korea, and a concrete path towards peace in the region.

“It is clear that Tillerson and Freeland will not be discussing U.S.-led threats, and sanctions against North Korea,” explained MAWO chairperson Alison Bodine. “Rather, this meeting been called in an attempt to isolate and demonize North Korea through a publicity campaign which is heavy on threats and rhetoric but thin on facts.”

Professor Michel Chossudovsky is available for interviews in English and French.
