During the first few pages of the book this question gets its own section in the first chapter. Therefore, I thought it would be the best one to start this blog with…

So why do I want to be rich?

Somehow, I do not want to be rich like a millionaire, celebrity or rockstar. I want to have enough money so that I do not have to worry about having money. So what I want is being financially independent.

If I compare the two definitions the explanation of financial independence seems also more appreciable for me.

Individual or family that can provide for, from its own resources, at least two of the three major expense categories: housing, food, and other living expenses.

Reading these definitions I usually think, well nice thank you for this great words but what should I do now, especially with the term rich. The term rich has 6 descriptions and some of those have sub-definitions, but somewhat the term rich can still have another meaning for yourself. This leads me to the second question that is in this section I read today.

What does being rich mean to you?

Being rich… being rich… rich means for me having enough, in regard of financial richness it is having enough money to be secure and independent in spending you life where you want to. This leads me to the richness of experience, the wealthiness to have a lot of experience in the world, in economics, in business or family. Experience is definitely connected to learning and learning should be a life long goal. (Well thats the reason, why I am reading an hour a day)
Being rich in health is being able to tie your shoe-laces without taking a seat, being able to walk stairs without having a heavy breath and having my body work without any complication. Physical fitness grants yourself to use the time you have as fully as you can and therefore it is the most important richness, what in my opinion everyone should try to achieve as much as possible.

To conclude I would like to be rich in a lot of aspects in life, but financially (well the book is about personal finace so therefore I think the question was about my financially rich) I want to be secure so I don’t worry about having a living and having enough to afford holidays abroad once a year.
