The Positive Reframe: Why Trump’s Inauguration is Not the Beginning of an Era — but the End
Peter Leyden

Its an appealing idea. But the argument has a major flaw which is that many California “progressives” are as terrified of change and technological innovation as the Trump-servatives the argument contrasts them to.

Look at the legislative pushback against AirBnB, Uber, Lyft, etc as prime examples of the left blocking innovative technologies to protect 20th century crony rent collectors. Even the resistance of the left to consider new approaches to education is an example of this. Now many of our peers will try to draw some sort of distinction about how the market interventions of the left are different, somehow better, or “protecting the 99%” when really its the same thing.

Are the SF NIMBY crybabies trying to keep people they consider undesirable (techies like you and me) out of their neighborhoods really that much different than tea partiers on the Arizona border trying to keep out undocumented immigrants? Sure there are varying degrees of wealth in the groups getting screwed but nativism is still nativism. </rant>
