What can I do today to change the world?
Jul 10, 2017 · 2 min read
It’s Monday.
The best day to start something new.
Good as January 1st.
Even better than after the summer holidays.
Plus, it happens every week — there’s no reason to wait.
This is my list. Tentative and partial.
- Say a warm hello and smile to the bus driver
- Ask the girl at the cashier “How are you today?” and listen to the answer
- Write a postcard to a friend who’s far away
- Buy a book in an independent bookstore
- Leave a post-it note on the door of your neighbour
- Buy from a local store instead of a chain
- Walk 30 minutes without looking at the phone
- Bring croissants for everybody in the office
- Read a newspaper
- Draw something small and happy
- Surprise a friend with a visit
- Support a fresh enterpreneur on Kickstarter
- Tell your boss she did a good thing
- Thank the team at the switchboard, customer service or reception
- Give yourself a mid-term goal and stick it to your fridge
- Eat seasonal fruits coming from local sources
- Keep only 2 slides of a presentation deck you’ve prepared: the ones your customer will really be interested in
- Post a nice review of a place that deserves it and let them know
- Hug people around you
- Look at the food ingredients of what’s in your fridge. Throw away (and never buy again) what you can’t understand at first sight
Can you imagine? All this can be done in a single Monday. And all this ignites change in yourself and in the world around you.
Change begins with us as soon as we begin to apply change.
