I really liked the idea of this sub-genre (?) for these authors and their works and Ted Chiang, in my opinion almost single-handedly represents a new future for scifi literature. I would recommend everyone to read his interviews where he discusses the differences between scifi and fantasy. He truly has a fresh way of incorporating modern science into fiction.
