Accelerating WorkHound Week 14: Gratitude

It’s been a whirlwind 14 weeks.

Andrew and I went from idea and gut feeling to momentum in ways we didn’t expect. WorkHound is on the right track and we’re optimistic for the road ahead. We’ve got customers on board, people interested in helping us continue the fight and amazing network of good people supporting us.

We’ve covered a number of topics in our weekly updates but this week we want to capture one feeling that’s resonated strongly over the past 14 weeks: gratitude.

We are grateful to so many people that have helped us, supported us, cheered for us or simply listened to us over the past 14 weeks. Getting something off the ground is a grueling process, having a network of allies has been the difference maker for us.

We still have a long way to go, but today we want to embrace the folks that have helped us along the way.

Thank you

Thank you to Straight Shot for giving us a chance. We came in as the most conceptual team in the accelerator and have turned our idea into reality since the initial application. The programming, the network, the resources and the artificial time box were extremely helpful.

The WorkHound team.

Thank you to Kayla Good. Creighton provided each accelerator team with an intern but we quickly escalated Kayla from intern to Community Manager. She’s helped us grow our content marketing, social presence and been a valuable asset to the team. We’re excited to share that Kayla will keep working with us beyond the accelerator.

Thank you to the Straight Shot mentors. There’s a lot of shit you don’t know when launching a business. So many of you helped us connect the dots, open doors, empathized with us and shared skills to help us accelerate our own growth.

Thank you to Rich and Cindy Thiele. My grandfather always said “you can do more with friends than you can with money.” He connected Rich and I as duck hunting buddies 20 years ago and Rich gladly let us stay at his Omaha house over the summer so that we could have a base camp to build from. We are very grateful for Rich and Cindy’s hospitality!

Thank you to the Omaha entrepreneurial community. Andrew and I have always been big believers in community and Omaha embraced as one of its own. The connections, resources and friendships were invaluable.

Thank you to the Iowa entrepreneurial community. Despite the fact we left the state to participate in Straight Shot, people across Iowa continued to support us, teach us, connect us and provide resources to help us succeed.

Thank you to family / loved ones. You all put up with a lot. Thank you for understanding and support us. Get ready for more!

Thank you to the Nebraska, Iowa and Arkansas Trucking Associations. We had a lot to learn about the industry and you all continued to connect us with great companies and opportunities to expand our presence within the industry. We’ll keep fighting the good fight.

Thank you to Brian Sauer and the team at Saturday Mfg. You all came through in the clutch to help us establish our brand identity. We love the direction with the brand and the logo. We’re proud to keep putting our brand out there and are excited to grow with this new feel.

Thank you to the folks that travelled to demo day. We try not to get too sentimental, but we couldn’t help but get that warm feeling when we saw so many folks from Iowa make the trek to the Straight Shot demo day. It was a special night for us and you all amplified that feeling tremendously. Also, having Larry Johnson of Nebraska Trucking Association and Shane Reiser introduce us was a fitting finish. Thanks for having our backs and pushing us across the finish line.

We know there are folks that we omitted here and we’re grateful for your support as well. There are so many folks we’ve engaged with to get to this point. Thank you all for steering us forward.

We’ve got an exciting road ahead, time to keep truckin’ forward.

Quick Overview

(See Week 1 post for more details)

At WorkHound, we’re tackling a big issue in the trucking industry: the 97% driver turnover rate. We’re building a platform to allow drivers to share feedback with their companies. Companies then receive the aggregated feedback to improve the driver experience.

This is our weekly post highlighting our learnings and actions each week in the Straight Shot accelerator out of Omaha.
