Meeta Gournay — Partner, Prehype London
Meeta heads the PreHype London office since 2015, a venture development firm with offices in New York, London, Copenhagen and Sydney. PreHype facilitates spin-outs, incubation and venture partnerships for established companies and VCs. It runs programs for NewsCorp, Mondelez, Royal Bank of Scotland, Diageo and Verizon — where they identify new innovation/business opportunities. They have invested small seed rounds in VinePair, and grew BarkBox.com to $100 million in revenues, in New York, among other early stage tech companies. Meeta graduated from Columbia Business School in New York, and her career includes working for Lehman Brothers in investment research; as an analyst in capital markets at Goldman Sachs & Co, and for Tesco Telecoms.
Yasmina Asseily — Owner, Chateau Biac
Some would say Yasmina has crossed over to the dark side. She studied English and French Law at King’s College in London, spent several years in banking in Paris, and trained and qualified as a nutritional therapist. She’s a believer that selling wine is more fun than prohibiting it.
She now preaches the good virtues of Biac wines alongside the importance of eating and drinking in a way that nourishes mind, body and soul. Having spent eight years in the financial industry (New York, Beirut and Paris) she understands the pressures and stress that come with fast-paced living and very much embodies the Biac solution: “Slow down. Enjoy. Taste Bordeaux in a glass.”.
Millie Baring — Founder of The Island Club / Winemaking Assistant at Pierro Vineyards
Millie was born on a vineyard in the South of France where, in the 1980s, her entrepreneurial father was well ahead of time in his use of the latest winemaking technology. An entrepreneur and a visionary, James Baring also invested in several ventures in the early days of the Internet, inspiring Millie to work with new technologies in the arts and the wine sector.
Millie started her career in literature and music, and now works in the wine industry, representing Chateau Biac and Pierro Wines in England, and in her design studio. Her beautiful illustration work has been commissioned by publishers of children’s books, and she develops visual identity for wineries and a range of clients. After working vintages with the teams at Pierro in Margaret River and Chateau Biac in Bordeaux, she fell in love with both wineries’ attention to detail and dedication to quality.
Millie is currently setting up an exclusive club for tech entrepreneurs, investors, and creative sector professionals, offering them access to a private island just off the coast of Dublin. The Club will preserve the site’s natural and cultural heritage and at the same time serve as a platform for debating trends in tech and innovation, and forming strong new professional relationships. Throughout the year, Members will be offered a calendar of tech related events, retreats, conferences, and seminars. It is open by invitation to a select number of tech entrepreneurs, investors, and creative sector professionals. Her current endeavours take her full circle: closer to her father’s passion and vision while she was growing up, both in tech and winemaking.
