4 Cancer Symptoms Men Shouldn’t Ignore
Distressing back pain, digestive disorders and frequent urination, you might assume these are minor health issues that can be treated at home. But think again, they can be cancer symptoms which are often vague. In fact, prostate cancer–the most common cancer in men– shows up some of the least noticeable symptoms.
“Men shouldn’t ignore their health,” says Dr Vikas Goswami, Medical Oncologist. “It is essential to pay attention to changes in your body and report abnormal symptoms to your doctor immediately,” he adds. Dr Vikas Goswami shares some of the most common cancer symptoms in men.
Having a lump or mass right below your skin may be a sign of cancer. In men, lumps normally turn up in the testicles, lymph nodes and soft tissues, such as tendons and ligaments. Report it to your doctor immediately, especially if you recently found it, or it has expanded in size.
Changes in testicles
Have you observed any changes in the size of your testicles; for example, one or both have become bigger? Perhaps you’ve found a lump, or your testicles feel inflamed or extra heavy. Any of these signs should right away be reported to a doctor. Testicular cancer is most prevalent in young and middle-aged men.
Sudden weight loss
Are you shedding kilos without mending your diet or exercise habits? Consult your doctor — even if you think they’re kilos you must lose. Losing ten or more pounds suddenly can be a symptom of stomach, pancreatic, esophageal or lung cancer.
Indigestion or trouble swallowing
A long-drawn-out painful burning sensation in your throat or chest must not be ignored — even if you believe it’s due to eating spicy food. Don’t consider that regular indigestion or trouble swallowing is usual part of aging. It can be a symptom of esophageal, stomach or throat cancer.
However, having one or more of these symptoms doesn’t indicate you have cancer. But if they’re unrelenting, you need to visit a doctor.
