Alternate Side Parking Moves to 9:00AM

Get that extra hour of sleep! We’ve extended alternate side parking deadlines to 9:00 A.M. to increase our quality of life. Citizens had been required to move their vehicles to make way for street sweepers by 8:00 A.M., forcing many to search for temporary parking spots, double-park, and add unnecessary congestion to the already hectic lack of parking. This change will give more flexibility in the morning making a big difference in the lives of our residents.
Mount Vernon Streets Repaved Ahead of Winter Months

The Winter months are fast approaching and we are preparing our streets for inclement weather. We are currently in the process of repaving S. 10th Ave and S. 9th Ave from Sanford Blvd to S. 4th St before we move over to 6th Ave, 7th Ave, Gramatan Ave. and several other streets. We aim to repave 3 miles of our streets before the end of November!
This is all a part of an agreement with Con Edison where ConED will be held responsible for repaving all of the streets they left unfinished when fixing the gas lines across the City. Our administration is halting all gas line replacement operations and permits within the City of Mount Vernon until this agreement is honored.

Mayor Wallace spoke with the NY Post to discuss the issue of NYC moving homeless people into Mount Vernon without any resources. The City of Mount Vernon cares about its most vulnerable, however we require the financial resources in order to do so.
