The Unveiling of MVPD Detective Christopher Ridley’s Monument

On Saturday, August 31, 2019, we were proud to join the Christopher Ridley Foundation, Stanley Ridley, Legislator Lyndon Williams, Councilwoman Janice Duarte, the MVPD, and more members of our MV family in unveiling a monument for MVPD Detective Christopher A. Ridley at 85 Court St in White Plains, NY.

Renovations Begin At 3rd Street Firehouse #GreenMV

Building a unified community means knocking down the barriers that divide us. It’s important that we reconnect the people to not only a transparent local government but an open and inviting environment. In the coming weeks, we will be tackling some of our blighted areas starting with a few of our municipal buildings and parking lots that have been long overdue for a makeover.

#SafetyFirst For Mount Vernon’s Back to School Season

#SafetyFirst Our kids are gearing up for the start of the new school year. In anticipation, we would like to send a strong reminder that we will not tolerate any threats to the quality of life of our communities. In preparation of this season, crews have been out around the city painting walkway lines and putting up new signs to encourage a safer environment.

City’s Annual Back to School Book Bag Giveaway

It was all smiles at the city’s annual Back to School Book Bag Giveaway this past weekend. Thank you to the Mount Vernon Recreation Department, Homegrown Foundation, the Wartburg, and our many donators for providing our children the tools they need to succeed in the classroom.

Luangisa Showcases Mount Vernon’s Diverse Culture at Wakanda Fest

Shout out to the Luangisa African Gallery for hosting such a beautiful and diverse event! This year’s “Wakanda Celebration Chapter 2” showcases to the world the rich culture that the City of Mount Vernon has to offer.

Thousands Attend “Caribbean Fest” In 5th Ave Parking Lot

In less than two weeks since the renovations began in our 5th Ave parking lot, the City of Mount Vernon was able to host an event that held over 1,000 people. Shout out to the organizers of “Caribbean Fest” for bringing together families from all over the globe to celebrate right here in Mount Vernon.

Mount Vernon’s Drive-In Movie Nights Return!

Mount Vernon’s Drive-In Movie Nights have returned. This past Friday, the Mount Vernon Recreation Department was able to host the event in our newly renovated 5th Avenue parking lot. Don’t miss out on this free family fun event. Stay tuned to fb.com/mayorandrewallace for our next show.

Mayor Wallace Attends Summer Breeze Grand Finale

This past Thursday, The Mount Vernon Recreation Department hosted the grand finale of this year’s Summer Breeze Concerts. The finale was dedicated to the smooth sounds of R&B as the performers included a Beyoncé Tribute band (pictured above with Mayor Wallace), featuring two of her original bandmates, as well as an Earth, Wind & Fire tribute band.
