Why nobody reads my posts on Medium.

Hi Jack:

I learned about your post from Sand Farnia who was inspired to write a post about it. If you want to become a great writer, you must write with intention and purpose. Before you can develop an audience, you need to figure out who your audience is and what is it that they’re looking to read. If you’re writing to express what you feel, your writing will not be strong enough to consistently captivate an audience unless you are someone who has been on television or covered consistently by mainstream media.

Take the recommendation you received from Ev Williams as a signpost of inspiration to continue writing. More than being noticed, you should want to make a good living as a writer and to do that you need a proven track record in the real world. The internet can only amplify what you already have. Think about where you want to be as writer 10 years from now and develop a realistic plan to get there. Read autobiographies of those who have already achieved what you want to achieve. Interview people already in writing positions you would like to be in as early as one year from now. There are no shortcuts to greatness. We must be prepared to work hard if we want to achieve our dreams.
