“Buy my NFT nudes”

Lately I’ve been noticing a lot of people in the nft community bringing up erotic photos. Women artists are supposedly doing it out of desperation and lack of sales. I wanted to put my five cents in here and share my opinion on the subject.

Let’s take emotion out of the equation and look at the problem in a completely dispassionate way.
What exactly is it that embarrasses artists?
“Unfair” wages. “Unfair” advertising.

Artists don’t like it when collectors choose a sexy girl over quality art that they’ve spent a lot of time and effort on.

Fortunately or unfortunately, we live in a world where it is not demand that creates supply, but supply that creates demand. We buy too many things that we essentially don’t need, and just succumb to the manipulation of marketers. (Remember Simple Dimple🤪).

Advertising is an art. And the ways to attract attention are different, too. The main thing remains the same — whether it will bring you sales.

Think of the commercials we hate so much that pop up when you watch a movie. Many people will say that they would never use a product that is so aggressively advertised, but in fact they do not understand the psychology of it. In fact, aggressive advertising is a very powerful tool.

When you publicly display your positive qualities and add comparisons to make them more colorful, it is also aggressive advertising. That here «I am good, and they are bad.» The subtext — «choose me, because I’m better».

I’m not saying it’s a bad thing. Everyone resorts to aggressive advertising at some point or another. Someone uses intimate photos, someone is publicly outraged by this action, and someone comments on it all by putting up whole articles😂
If advertising works, it’s good advertising. And nothing more than that.

I don’t want to talk about morality, because every person can be outraged by totally different things. “Whatever is normal to a spider is chaos to a fly.” Everyone chooses their own way of self-promotion. Both the spider and the fly.
