Success Stories: National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research
National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) tops the list of pharmacy schools across India in the nationwide rankings by the union ministry of Human Resource Development.
NIPER is indeed a centre of excellence for advanced studies and research in pharmaceutical sciences. No less than the Government of India has declared it as an ‘Institute of National Importance’.
An autonomous body just like the IITs and IIMs in the country, this landmark comes under the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India. The institute not only provides academic leadership not only in India but also South East Asia, South Asia and Africa.
Situated 250 kilometres north of Delhi at S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali), Punjab, it is spread over 130 acres. NIPER is particularly known for promoting innovative and translation research, national and international collaborative studies to meet global challenges. It also conducts programmes on drug surveillance. Its ‘thrust areas’ of research are tuberculosis, malaria, diabetes, Leishmaniasis and immunomodulation.
