Virat Kohli on Saturday announced his decision to resign as India’s Test captain with a post on his social media handle. The 33-year-old resigned as India’s most successful captain in the longest format in history. In 2014, Kohli’s name was chosen for the Test captaincy that what was the time when Dhoni was the captain and did step down in the middle of the series against Australia. He led India to the top of the Test table and won the ICC Test match for a record five times.

Kohli’s announcement comes a day after losing the Test series by 1–2 in South Africa.

The right-handed batsman led India to the top of the world rankings and during his tenure, the team registered a memorable series win in Australia. He resigned as the T20I captain at the end of the World Cup last year and was later removed as the ODI captain. Read more…
