I’m glad you invested so much in “PR”.
I first saw your post on hacker news.
I’m coming from a Meteor background (main tool during the last 2 years). My pet project which is becoming more and more important to me is based on Meteor. This allowed me to iterate quickly and to hit a performance wall even faster.
So I removed a lot of the real-time reactivity coming from the db and started to implement events over sockets. I tried Phoenix (elixir web framework), and it’s awesome but my main stack is JS. I’m proficient with it and I love the ecosystem (no js fatigue here).
Then I went back to express/socket.io. Yup, just that. And just a few days before I knew the existence of feathers.
Then the hacker news post made my day.
The week after, I went back on my pet project and quickly generated a feathers project. I launched the generate command at the start of the afternoon. At the end of the same afternoon I finished reimplementing a big part of the business logic and your event system solved a big issue I had.
I’m now finishing the react native app.
The only issue I had during the process of rewriting the backend was due to my misunderstanding of Mongoose and the fact that I had to rewire my brain just a little bit to get the SOA. Painless experience, I’ve never seen a framework this easy to integrate.
You guys rock so much. Infinite kudos.
