An Ode & Goodbye letter to MAZ
Dear readers & employees of MAZ,
Looking at the date at the bottom of my PC screen (the only PC laptop at MAZ NYC), it highlights my final day at the company. But who am I in a sea of greatness? Here, you’ve inspired me to believe that I am not just a summer ’16 intern. To recap, I cannot fathom how much every employee/friend I’ve met here has left a mark on me. Not only was I able to experience how the other half works (fulfilling jobs, close company culture and environment, a dog as an employee ever so often..well maybe once), it gave me the opportunity to believe that I can enjoy waking up in the morning, my input as an intern does matter, and opportunities like these come once (maybe twice if you’re lucky) in a lifetime.

At this time last year, I thought my current position here was far from reality. I would only dream about touching an oculus, let alone having one next to me. Nor did I ever set foot near the Waldorf-Astoria, let alone for a digital publishing conference. The skills, life lessons, new foods, personal strengths & motivations I’ve acquired from interning at MAZ have been endless. I must also thank my peers for working along side with me during these past few weeks. The other interns have definitely contributed to these lessons and experiences. But enough about what you have provided to me. I do hope that I was also able to contribute back, if even a tad. Whether it be a new application feature idea based off of the WWDC Apple Keynote presentation, a new social media venture, new snack ideas or new magazine idea. To know that I have left a mark, as much as MAZ has for me, would be more than enough.
While the tech industry is vast, rising and slightly volatile, they have taken these rushed changes with grace and have set the mark high for the ideal company environment. Nevertheless, it has been quite an honor to work alongside them in an industry I’m also eager to contribute back to.
That being said, here’s an ode and toast to MAZ, their contagious energy & will to succeed!
I owe a lot to them.
And I know you’ll definitely find something there for you too.
With love,
Ana
