I’m still not setting life goals
Though I know I should be
Recently I blogged about becoming a runner. I got motivated to do so when a marathon announced it was coming to our town 3years ago.
I read about training, I’d run some 5k’s, but knew I needed help to run 26.2 miles. I had 10 months to get ready and found a plan to get me there. I had made my first goal in probably my whole life, at the age of 40.
It finally hit me that it worked. The incremental steps “tricked” my brain into realizing I could run further each week, until I no longer questioned IF I could make it, but how quickly I could finish. I did it, and I learned a valuable lesson in goal setting.
Unfortunately I haven’t used it in other parts of my life. It’s always easier to give advise that you know is right, than it is to take it for yourself. Because right now what I really want is freedom, and I don’t know how to make the plan to get there yet.
