It’s April 1st, and here in California, we’ve been under mandatory orders to reduce our social contact for about 2 weeks. Several counties & cities started implementing social distancing responses to the COVID-19 pandemic a few days to a week ahead of the state decree.

Last week, I went out to my friendly local music store (Instrumental Music, for you Santa Barbara/Ventura folks), and I bought this:

It’s a Korg Minilogue, a digitally-controlled, analog synthesizer. And I think it’s a great first synthesizer for someone like me, who’s keenly interested in music and synthesis, but isn’t a “serious musician”, at least not yet.

So, what is it?

Disney announced a few months back that they’d be running a game, centered around the Haunted Mansion, where 999 players could sign up to receive 3 boxes of “haunted artifacts”, one per month, and use them, along with an iPhone app, to solve a mystery. Given that I’m a huge Haunted Mansion fan, I pretty much had to sign up for this.
