The sensitivity of the device is the change in nominal voltage when the device is tilted. The resolution is the small change in output that is measurable. Accuracy is the maximum error between the measured value and the displayed value. Inclinometer sensors working principles:

Inclinometer sensors work by measuring the inclination of surfaces. They are made up of two electrodes. One is fixed while the other is movable. These two electrodes are connected to each other using spring elements. When a force is applied to the movable mass, it will move relative to the fixed electrode. The sensor cell measures the change in capacitance and calculates the new inclination value. Unlike inclinometers, which are used for estimating gravity, these devices do not require a calibrated base.

An inclinometer sensor can be connected to a remote data acquisition system via Bluetooth to send and receive data. An Android OS based GSM/GPRS mobile phone acts as the handheld readout unit, displaying high-resolution, vivid color readings. A wireless Bluetooth connection eliminates the need for cables between the rotating reel and the mobile phone readout. Inclinometer sensors:

Inclinometer sensor accuracy:

The proof mass is deflected when a stratum is displaced. The SST2200 in-place sensors are mounted in a sloping tube and span a stratum.

Most inclinometer sensors are electronic. A highly sensitive inclinometer has an output resolution of 0.0001 degree. However, it lacks the 3 axis magnetometer data required for heading calculation. A sloping tube allows the inclinometer to measure an angle from different angles. The angle of the sloping tube is measured in degrees. A sloping sensor that can detect the angle of a slope can be classified according to its axis.

Dynamic inclinometers:

A dynamic inclinometer is used to measure angles of slope, elevation, and depression. It is useful in detecting lateral movement of structures and earthworks. Depending on the application, a sloping sensor can be mounted in the structure itself. Once installed, it is plugged into a computer and calibrated with the help of a digital inclinometer software. The results can be easily analyzed in real time.

A horizontal inclinometer system is used to monitor settlement profiles under a structure. The inclinometer probe is a force-balanced servo-accelerometer that measures the angle between a horizontal and vertical plane. An angle greater than this indicates movement. The ADIS16209 has an autofill option that can be used to determine a varying range of inclinometers. ADIS16209 servo-accelerometers with a 0.01-degree accuracy.
