Blog Post Comments — Annoyance or Comedy Goldmine?
There it is again…
133 new comments on our company blog. I guess we forgot to turn off the comments for a few of our posts. Well, let’s delete those and remove the comments feature for those posts. But hold on, I feel good today, let’s take a look at those comments.
I mean, with that many comments, there’s bound to be something of use or a real comment. Right?
Let’s see…the first comment in the queue
Their adorable comfy bird faces are somewhat some sort of trademark that can conquer all of the hungry green pigs.
Now let’s not forget the most important period — lunchtime.
Lots of land bound birds produce extremely one of a kind arrangements of shapes

Whoa! That took a strange turn. Dark comedy fans would enjoy the rest of these comments. I even decided against posting a few of these.
When was the last time you took a moment to read your spam comments on your blog? I promise you that it will be entertaining. Ironically enough, your spam comments will never see the light of day online, but they’ll do more for you than you ever know.
Unforeseen Spam Comment Uses
- Comedy pick-me-up in the morning or afternoon
- Friendly reminder that your spam filter isn’t working (might need to update plugin)
- Targeted list of blog posts with the comments still on (so you can turn them off if that’s your policy)
We recently made the decision to disable comments on any of our new blog posts. There are certainly useful and non-spammy comments and links on our other posts, so we’re willing to let those stand — and those are the mines of comedy gold for us. Our website manager had enough and begged us to disable comments for new posts. It was an easy decision.
We’re still going to delete these comments and the other 128 spam comments. But I’m going to take a look every now and then. Just for the fringe benefits.
