You have misread the argument. You are at fault for allowing this travesty to happen. I’ll forgive you. No one can keep a 24/7 watch on a web platform.
You are at fault for dismissing the original author’s complaints. I won’t forgive this.
You seem to think that this a a little incident, a tempest in a teapot, a kitchen thing.
You seem or your colleagues seem to be unaware of how powerful a voice Kel Campbell was on Medium.
So I feel sorry for you. You screwed up (collectively). You screwed yourselves badly. I will not follow you or your publication. I am fairly certain that other people won’t follow you either after this.
Plagiarizing is not cool. Stealing another’s words is not cool.
In fact it goes back to the original argument in Kel’s piece about the subtle ways that sexism steals a female’s agency in professional existence. Or any other form of existence.
If we are all supposed to be “equal” then let us be equal. Let me open my own door.
Let someone else open a door for you.
Let me have my own female-brain my own say. Because I am myself, a unique person. Not you. I speak my own truth. As should Kel. As she did.
