To judge all Democrats by the words of actions of some, including those in the mainstream media, is just another way to advance another stereotype. And likewise, when some “critics,” which undoubtedly include Democrats, decide to blame Sarah Palin for Senator Giffords shooting , they too, are merely trying to pigeonhole all Republicans.
Ms. Weeks, the words you used included the term “liberals,” which as a plural word refers to all liberals, and to suggest that all Democrats or “liberals” blamed Gifford’s shooting on Palin, is ridiculous.
As I said the reactions of some Democrats — not all of them by any means — cannot be generalized so as to fit one definition. I have literally dozens of liberal friends, some of whom are very involved in politics, but none of whom have yet to advocate shooting Republicans for what happened to Senator Giffords at the hands of a madman — and also due to anyone or anything else! So if you continue to insist that those on the left are all nothing but violent and hateful people, then your attitude is dishonest when you stubbornly cling to that falsehood.
Believe it or not, I have talked to many on the left who admit Griffin’s gross and horrific video of her holding the severed head of Trump, is something that I, and many others whom you would likely consider members of the liberal press, have condemned in no uncertain terms.
We live in a time when many of our political leaders are using social media to foster hatred and discord between us all. So why do you object so much to my efforts to debunk a myth about Democrats and Liberals? It seems that you want to pretend that the GOP can do no wrong, and that Democrats can do no right, but as John McCain said recently about the pundits who sow discord — “TO HELL WITH THEM!” we are all Americans who are happy to stand up to our beliefs, and when we respond to others on a thread like this, we ought to be able to debate and criticise them without believing that the other person is nothing more than a cookie cutter example of someone who has only one kind of narrow beliefs — don’t you agree?
