Cookies
Final Idea
My final concept, inspired by Chipotle’s Cilantro Lime Rice, was a fresh and tangy cilantro lime cookie. After the first test bake, I was able to pin down the flavors needed and how to achieve them. The final design was overall successful in taste, bake, and novelty.
Recipe Idea Generation
My first test of the cilantro lime cookies was successful in the bake and texture, but the flavor still needed to be stronger. For the next test, I used a fresh lime instead of bottled lime juice, and this was much more successful. I had my five roommates test all four recipes I tried and they unanimously agreed on the final cilantro lime recipe, so I chose that as my final recipe.
Recipe:
1 package premade sugar cookie dough, 1 lime cut into quarters, 2 tbsp lime zest, 1 cup powdered sugar, green food coloring, a handful of fresh chopped cilantro leaves
Idea Test 2
The next recipe to test was the cilantro lime cookie, inspired by Chipotle’s rice. After my first two attempts at baking, I decided to use a premade mix, as that was not important to my overall design concept anyway. With this cookie, I focused more on the additives and exactly how to achieve the flavor I wanted. The first recipe was far more successful than any of the Pink Drink tests, so I decided to continue with this as my final concept.

Idea Test 1
The Starbucks Pink Drink was my first cookie attempt. I looked up three strawberry cookie recipes to get a general idea, and this is what I found:

From these recipes, I created my own version to better account for the coconut flavor and creaminess of the drink. I tested the recipe, and was disappointed with the flavor and texture of the cookies. I recorded the results and changed the recipe so there would be less flour and more coconut flavor. This was better, but not close enough to the Pink Drink for my iteration to be over.
Iteration-
To begin, I brainstormed some cookie ideas in my notebook. I made a list, and expanded on some with notes and sketches. After I wrote this, I searched for each cookie on Pinterest to see which already exist and which are novel. From this, I narrowed my list down to Starbucks Pink Drink, spinach, old fashioned, fizzing, paint, cilantro lime, and mashed potato cookes. I personally thought the Pink Drink and fizzing cookies were the best to move forward with, but upon consulting my roommates, they unanimously agreed on Pink Drink and cilantro lime, so I moved forward with those.
