Falling

You fall in love. Fall asleep. Fall ill. Fall into disrepute. Debt. Depression. Loneliness. Beauty. Bliss. Wonder. Ecstasy. Money! Fall into a pattern. Cult. Religion. Vocation. You fall into a rut. A dream. An obsession. Fall off a cliff. Fall over. Behind. Under (as in a spell). Friends fall away. Lives fall apart.
You can fall into a book. A poem. A symphony. Even a photograph! You can fall into time, the time before loss and grief and emptiness. You can fall from grace. You can also fall into knowing, and grow there. And as you’re falling, waiting for the wind to shift and take you higher, you can learn faithfulness. Free your fears, and fall into the open arms of Love.

The little Sparrow fell, and couldn’t fly. Scotty said I got so close, not because she trusted me, but because she was blind. I think she could see me, and chose to stay, but I can’t prove it.
