As my passion for a more inclusive world began to grow, and as my work this summer catapulted me into inclusive design and accessibility, I discovered there are a lot of great resources scattered across the web. In an effort to organize them for my own sanity, I began this post. This is a working list of resources for inclusive design, accessibility, best practices within UX, and more. As my research research propels me forward, I will continue to add to this list.

Microsoft Design: Inclusive Film

Inclusive Design & Accessibility:

“It’s the difference between designing a watch that can be read by touch or sight, and taking a standard analog watch and adding braille instead of numbers…

Unlike assistive devices, inclusive design doesn’t specifically target people with disabilities. While assistive devices fill in the gaps left by exclusionary design practices, inclusive design aims to evolve products beyond their conventional definitions, changing our standards for products.”

UX Patterns:

Death to Icon Fonts — Seren Davies

Microsoft:

Bryce Johnson — Xbox Inclusive
Microsoft Design has several other powerful videos, available their site as well as YouTube
A selection of the poster available from the UK Home Office
How architecture changes for the Deaf — VOX
