CS371p 10/28–11/3

What did you do this past week?
This past week I studied for my theoretical stats class. We have 2 exams next week and I’m trying to prepare myself fully for that. It’s not going to be easy. I also have a lot of other assignments like Darwin, the SWE project and a data mining assignment. There’s too much on my plate right now.
What’s in your way?
Nothing is in my way because I’m an absolute beast and I can’t be stopped. It doesn’t matter. Anything in my way will just be taken care of. I’ve made it this far studying CS at UT, I can do anything. I’m not even sure how I got into this school let alone this major but I’m blessed for the opportunities it has opened up. This week is going to suck but sometimes the suck is just what you need to appreciate the good things.
What will you do next week?
Next week I hope to do absolutely nothing. This never happens as stuff always seems to come up. But I really hope my workload lightens up. This semester has been one of the toughest I’ve had. I’m excited to start cycling weekly with my team and start the days off right with a 2-hour cycle.
What was your experience of the vector implementation?
Vector was really insightful for me because it kind of wrapped everything we’ve learned so far into one Class. C++ is a really interesting language and I don’t mean that in a good way. To me, there’s no elegance to C++. It is just so random and all over the place. I hope I don’t have to touch it ever again once this class is over. It seems like a tricked out swiss army knife of a language whereas python is a scalpel.
Pick of the week?
Looking for a quiet place to study? Sneak into the graduate research section of the GDC. There’s usually a nice room to snag and no one will question you if you act like you're supposed to be there. So quit going to the PCL and study in style.
