My First Medium Of Exchange!

Writing! I am made to believe is and does a whole lot of things to people. I am privileged to have had a firsthand experience of how therapeutic this could be as it sometimes allows one to pour out his/her emotions, feelings, thoughts and the like into words.

In light of this understanding today I decided to write & publish my FIRST MEDIUM POST. As simple as this line seems, I must say it has been an activity I’ve battled to do for a while now up until today. I have always loved literature and reading great master pieces have this feeling that English vocabulary is deficient in its description. All though these things come to me naturally, I have always been hesitant to make THE MOVE. I have tons and thousands of reasons not to write and these reasons are quite genuine to my other self which clad itself in procrastination. In a recent time of reflection, I pretty much came to terms with certain factors that have held me captive for so long. Here’s what I discovered about myself;

1. I have always perceived I can’t really make the time to put characters together aimed at generating meaningful sentences in a way to communicate my thoughts and feelings to people. Having recognized the essence of writing, I still placed this activity mostly as the bottom list item in my TODO list, which today thankfully, I have been able to accomplish it and with excitement as I cross it out as completed of my List. Moral Lesson — there is always plenty of time for things or activities that really matter to us.

2. I don’t quite know where I got this idea but funny enough it has been one of the core reasons why I haven’t been writing. I believe for every topic I decide to write on, the underlining points should be at least five (5) points. So guess what? If the points are not 5, there’s no way I’d publish an article. Upon second thought, I kind of get a sense of where I got this, throughout my time in schooling we were always made to give at least 5 points to any question we were asked to discuss or explain, as a result this become automatic. My sub conscious mind craves for at least five (5) points to any form of discussion. This is not always the case as deliberately generating five or more points doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve got an in-depth understanding of the subject matter.

3. There are tons and thousands of writers across the length and breadth of this globe, each writer has one or two or even more niche(s) or field(s) of expertise on which they write. Discovering this peculiar niche, I believe is something that for most people didn’t come easily and for this I can attest to. There are diverse things I am interested in, right from the corridors of arts through to software development, religion, lifestyle, entrepreneurship and the like, for that matter deciding on a single angle is quite difficult. So this momentarily kept me bound and presented to me all the reasons there are not to write.

4. The last of these factors is the fact that I felt I kind of needed an editor or someone to carefully peruse my write ups before I make any attempt of publishing them. There is always a loosen bolt to be tightened for every given machinery a mechanic would say so in a similar fashion with regards to writing there is always one or two things to be taken out or added even with a well written literary work. Again for this reason I held on to my writing ambitions in search of a “Personal Peruser”.

Having taken a look at some factors that made me not write, you can gladly note that I never succumb to any of its ploys as One — I have been able to make time to write this piece Two — The points raised here are less than my magic number five, Three — I don’t exactly know which category this post fits and Four — No one perused this.

With this published, I can only keep at it and write more.
