There was a recent review of a new book on the history of racist ideas in America by Ibram X. Kendi in the Washington Post. A quote by Kendi in the review stood out: “Fooled by racist ideas,” he admits, “I did not fully realize that the only thing wrong with Black people is that we think something is wrong with Black people.” Your story reminded me of this quote and the deep seated racism that is pervasive in this country.
