‘Corbyn facts’ are not facts

TL; DR- Corbyn facts are Corbyn lies, he is a terrible leader and will lead Labour into crushing defeat at any general election.

So last night, Corbyn facts was released by the Jeremy Corbyn campaign, and whilst the reaction was mostly mirthful, I thought it would be good to actually point out the bare faced lies (and lying by omission) being put out by our leader and his campaign for re-election.

The first post is entitled ‘ Has Jeremy Corbyn failed to build relationships with his parliamentary colleagues?’

This post ignores some very deep concerns within the PLP about Corbyn’s leadership style. Mere days after being appointed leader he chose an all male top team and appointed political advisors that had actively campaigned against Labour in 2015. Jeremy has also allowed John McDonnell to run around town calling parts of the PLP ‘right wing with a conservative agenda’ and ‘f***ing useless’ without a glimpse of concern.
It ignores countless accounts from shadow cabinet ministers of the ineptitude and incompetence that came from the leaders office that made it impossible to work for Corbyn any longer:

This post also ignores the letter sent by 45 female MP’s telling Jeremy that abuse against them is in his name and asking him to do more, or the fact that Jeremy Corbyn sat on an NEC meeting, listened to accounts by female members of the party and MPs of the abuse they had received, one of them with a stalker behind bars, another one in tears, begging him to vote for a secret ballot to protect them from further abuse, and voted against that secret ballot.

This post also ignores the people that Jeremy chooses to stand on platforms with and have cheered on his leadership, a small example of which can be found here, where deselection is used as a threat, MPs are called traitors and part of the right wing establishment, and Corbyn and McDonnell cheer and clap a crowd baying for blood mere days before bricks are thrown through Angela Eagle and Yvette Cooper’s windows.

Jeremy Corbyn did appoint shadow cabinet members from a broad church but, as seen by MP accounts above, refused to listen to them or meet with them. He has had a small band of MPs who have not accepted his leadership from the beginning, but this is the same as every other Labour leader before him. Jeremy challenged Kinnock, called for coups against Blair and Brown, and threatened to hold a slim majority over Miliband’s head if Labour won in 2015. Loyalty to the leader is not something that has ever concerned Corbyn, until, of course, he became leader.

Part of any good leadership is accepting your flaws, your mistakes, and learning from them. Corbyn and his supporters obviously think Jeremy is still the best person to lead Labour, but this post trivialises and ignores valid concerns by MPs, and refuses to accept even an iota of responsibility for the frustrations of the PLP. It wilfully misleads those who use campaign websites to find out more about candidates, and it shamefully plays on the trust that Labour members have in their leader.

The second post on Corbyn facts is entitled: ‘ Is Jeremy Corbyn electable?’

This post contains the infamous line ‘Before the recent attempt to remove Jeremy, we were neck and neck in the polls.’

This is a lie.

Again: This. Is. A. Lie.

Here is an article from January 4th explaining how badly Labour was doing then in comparison to previous Labour leadership cycles.

In the May elections we were nowhere near where Labour needed to be as a party to have hope of us winning a general election.

And whilst you can all go to UK polling report to check the actual voting intentions from almost every poll conducted for every day of Corbyn’s leadership, this sums it up by Britain Elects: ‘Our own polling average model shows the Conservative party has had an uninterrupted lead in the polls since April 24, 2015’.

Hope that helps anyone confused, and remember, ‘Corbyn facts’ are not facts .
