What does it feel like to be a soon to be college graduate in crisis island
It’s been on the news how critical the situation in Puerto Rico is. Everyday I wake up and just wonder when exactly this is going to crash and mayhem will arrive.

Recent college graduates are moving to the states for better job and life opportunities. I wanted to stay in the island because of my foodtrucks(“tripletas”) addiction. But I can’t seem to find a good job to “live and grow” in this island.

Fortunately I landed a job in the Bay Area and I’m moving there next summer, exciting right? for me, yes. But for the present and future of Puerto Rico is a shame. Due to the economic struggle the best talent of the island can’t make it here and has to move somewhere else.

Something I can do while I’m here is to keep going to those foodtrucks and local bars(where else can you get $1 beer?). Enjoy the magnificent landscapes around Puerto Rico and most important…
Help build a community that one day will be self sustainable and helps each other out. And with the right policies and infrastructure to create our own jobs.
Heck says, I might even try to open a business the next few months. Ride a horse to my classes and “horsepool” with other students. Try to eat 2 tripletas in a row, do a standup comedy show in a local bar. Just enjoy my last months in crisis island who had showed and taught me so much within 100x35 miles.
