What sin is

It’s ugly. We’re all guilty of it. What exactly is it?

Sin is primarily against God, not other human beings. We sin against each other, but that doesn’t make it sin. God is always the most offended party.

It’s the default mode of our heart, so much so that it’s possible to go our entire lives without noticing it. Tweet this

Imagine being the creator of a universe and creating a group of people that had the ability to know you and love you. Instead of loving you, they rebel against you. They refuse to acknowledge you. They ignore you. They don’t even believe you exist. They creatively invent ways to defy you. By the way, you’ve always existed (think about that), you know everything, life originates with you, and you’re loving and kind. You want this group of people to be a part of your forever fam. They still hate you.

Really, take 30 seconds to imagine what that would be like. Please.

That’s sin. Does this sound familiar to you? It should. We’ve all taken part in it. It’s the default mode of our heart, so much so that it’s possible to go our entire lives without noticing it. We’re like fish in water.
