We Are Worms With Wings
Mary Hood

I appreciate this image — one of my favorites for the transformation that faith makes possible.

A while ago, I was startled to read somewhere that the caterpillar in its cocoon actually liquefies before it re-forms into a butterfly… it was horrifying and yet glorious to think about. Apparently, for the caterpillar, there’s no safe word, no sort of step by step process — she’s all in on the transformation thing.

And perhaps in her caterpillar being she trusts that after she becomes nothing like what she once was, her re-creation will proceed, just as it should.

Man, I’d like to have that kind of faith!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Mary.
