A Lesson on Stereotypes

Good writing, Michael. True for all nations, all cultures, of course. Here in Aotearoa/New Zealand we have a similar situation; generations of early Dutch, recent arrivals and even original inhabitants are not treasured as valuable ingredients in a vibrant ‘melting pot’ society. Language, diet, music, speech; all are expected to conform to the Standard English Model. I like spicy foods, PI (Pacific Island) dancing, learning Te Reo Maori, and using everyday patois expressions. But then again, I’m 73 and ‘different’ like most Seniors.
