Hey Will — Matthew from Reveal Mobile here. We don’t attempt to reverse engineer a device’s location if they opt out of location sharing. In looking at our current SDK’s behavior, we see how that can be misconstrued. In response to that, we’re releasing a new version of our SDK today that stops sending any data that could be used to determine location when someone opts out of location sharing. Two additional things for your readers. 1. Our approach to protecting consumer privacy here: https://revealmobile.com/location-data-protecting-consumer-privacy/. 2. For a quick primer on mobile location ad targeting, here’s a recent post from AdExchanger: https://adexchanger.com/mobile/2017-marketers-guide-location-data/. Finally, thanks for highlighting to us how we can improve. Feel free to reach out to us with any questions.
