President Obama’s Hypocrisy towards Latinos

Sometimes reality is stranger than fiction, and what politicians do out in the open can be more wicked than what any of us would do in private.

It’s mind-boggling what the President is doing: now that he lost the majority in both houses, now that he knows that some of the anti-immigrant republicans have a stronger voice, now that he knows for sure that nothing will happen… Well, now is the time when he wants to work hard to “overhaul immigration” and “shield” immigrants from deportation.

Seriously?!?!

I guess that’s what you get when you have no more elections to win or lose: you can afford the luxury of being transparent, when doing things for pure political gain.

To put is simply: he’s doing it because while it will not make a difference, pushing for immigration now will make him look great.

Some will say that he really wants immigration reform, but it’s easy to see that this is not true. President Obama did not do anything 6 years ago, when he had the support and approval from most Americans and Democrats had control of both houses.

The only thing he did back then was a feeble attempt to pass the DREAMER act… but that act actually got defeated by votes from Democrats. To pass, the act needed 60 votes in favor. It got 55, with 5 Democrats voting against it.

So, he did nothing else for almost four years… until he remembered the “Latino vote” right before the elections, and realized that he needed to do some urgent “Hispandering.”

So, in panic, he passed the “Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals” thing.

Of course, and true to form, DACA is a joke.

The only thing that DACA does is to give applicants a 2-year “break” in which they won’t be deported and they can work legally. That is all. ONly two year. No real path to permanent legal status or citizenship. But by God did it look great in the media.

Just another example of fluff to make him look good.

So now he’s being vocal about immigration. Trying to make us believe that he’s the savior of Latinos. And what’s really upsetting is how predictable things will be.

Here’s how it’s going to play out in ten movements:

(1) The President will say he wants to do a lot about immigration, even if he has to go at it alone. He will pose for stoic photos, portraying the lone and sacrificial hero coming to our rescue.
(2) The most vocal Republicans the are against immigration will take the bait and yell “no way!”
(3) Other Republicans will have the knee jerk reaction to support their colleagues.
(4) The talk radio pundits will quickly jump on board and cry “See? Told ’ya! He wants amnesty! He hates America!”
(5) Predictably, whatever legislation he “tries” to pass, will fail.
(6) Then, the President will say “See? I tried! It’s not my fault! Republicans hate immigrants!”
(7) Other Dems will add their voices to the choir and yell “See? Told ’ya! Republicans are racists and hate Latinos!”
(8) Latinos will (again) believe that the President and his Democratic friends truly care about them.
(9) In a couple of months, Hillary will come out and say she wants to be President… and if Latinos vote for her, she’ll fix the immigration problem.
(10) Latinos, once again, will be the gullible voters that Democrats love to romance. The Dems will get most of the Latino vote in 2016.

Sheez…

It’s truly astounding to see the nerve. The blatant dishonesty. The machiavellian maneuvering to use millions of hard working immigrants as simple pawns for his political games.

I’m stunned by the President’s disregard for the hopes and dreams of so many millions of immigrants, mainly Latinos. People that are only relevant to him as useful idiots, only important to him as he desperately attempts to turn a failed presidency of broken promises and unfulfilled expectations into some sort of positive legacy.

Sadly, there’s no Hope that this will Change.
